Zenith Chronomaster El Primero Range Rover Velar is Sporty, Utilitarian
Don’t look now, but the model lineup over at Land Rover (and sub-brand Range Rover) is starting to get a bit crowded. And it’s going to get even more crowded later this year with the addition of the Range Rover Velar, a mid-size luxury SUV set to slot between the Evoque and Sport in terms of size and price. And to celebrate this filling of a gap in its portfolio, Land Rover has teamed up with Zenith watches to create the timepiece you see here.
Wearing the full name Zenith Chronomaster El Primero Range Rover Velar, the special edition watch is based on a 42 mm ceramic-coated aluminum case housing high-contrast burnished copper graduations, hands and two of the three subdials over a brushed slate gray dial. Locomotion comes courtesy of Zenith’s own El Primero 400 B automatic movement (with a minimum power reserve of 50 hours), while wrist-attachment is handled by a robust black rubber band with perforated calfskin inserts. No word on pricing or availability, but we’re betting it’s going to be a good bit cheaper than the vehicular Velar’s $49,900 starting price.
