The Audi R8 may not be the most attention-grabbing or face-flattening supercar on the market, but it is one of the most user-friendly. And it’s also one of the most popular with tuners. Over the years, we’ve chronicled dozens of tuned R8s with custom treatments running the gamut from mild to way-beyond wild.

Obviously, this blue-chrome-wrapped V10 example from Germany’s xXX Performance skews much closer to the latter end of the spectrum. But this Audi supercar hasn’t just been treated to a cosmetic makeover. No, it’s also got more power to let it take on much more formidable adversaries.

First, though, let’s get back to the exterior. The blue chrome vinyl wrap is snazzy, yes, but in our opinion it distracts from the very snazzy widebody kit. Wider front and rear fenders, a front splitter, a new rear bumper, vented front trunklid, and a rooftop air scoop make for a burlier looking car. xXx performance modified an H&R coilover kit to use airbags instead of steel springs and installed it on this sapphire screamer, and 20” Forgiato wheels coated to match the body and wrapped in Hankook tires fill the wheel wells.

But if you see this baby in the wild, you’ll have to run your eyes over it quickly, because you probably won’t have very long to look at it. xXx Performance added a high flow exhaust system, a low-restriction carbon fiber airbox and a remapped ECU to elevate the 5.2L V10’s output to 650 horsepower. Just so we’re all on the same page, that’s serious power; in fact, anything more than that and we might start to worry about peeling off the vinyl wrap.

And speaking of worrying, your accountant will probably worry about your sanity when he finds out you’ve had all these upgrades done to your R8. No, xXx Performance hasn’t said exactly how much you’ll have to give them to get this same result, but we’re betting it’s a figure in excess of $20,000. Of course, few Audi R8 owners will break a sweat at a sum like that.
