Vista Del Mar Mansion is La Jolla Done Right for a Hefty Price

Considering how gobsmackingly gorgeous much of the coastline here in Southern California is, it’s no surprise that it’s also some of the most expensive real estate in the country. Case in point: This stunning Don Edson designed beachfront compound on Vista Del Mar Avenue in La Jolla, just a short hop north of San Diego. Sure, it spreads 8,328 square-feet over three floors and includes seven bedrooms, 10 bathrooms (eight full, two partial), multi-zone air conditioning (which you’ll probably use quite sparingly due to the cooling sea breezes), a rooftop spa, pizza oven, a four-car garage, a Savant Smart Home system (which lets you control a whole bunch of systems and devices via your iPhone or iPad), and even an elevator, and it has 100 feet of beachfront on the edge of the backyard.

However, it sits on just over one quarter of an acre, so there’s no real front yard and not much of a backyard besides the beach, which makes the $26.6 million asking price just a little hard to swallow. Then again, if you look at the kinds of views you can experience via some of the photos above, that number starts to seem a lot less absurd…
