VIDEO: Mercedes-Benz Updates a Classic Fable for its Super Bowl Ad


For a guy that died roughly two-and-a-half millennia ago, Aesop still holds a lot of clout in western civilization. His collection of fables serve up life lessons that are applicable even today, and they do so in a way that, while maybe less cheeky than the Wheel of Morality, is certainly less scattershot. The Tortoise and the Hare is a prime example of this timelessness, yet Mercedes-Benz – specifically, its recently-renamed Mercedes-AMG division – saw fit to tweak the classic reptile-v-rodent speed contest to incorporate the new Mercedes-AMG GT. Why? To make a memorable Super Bowl commercial, apparently. Time will tell if it manages to be that, or if it gets lost in the shuffle.
