VIDEO: Chris Harris and Friends Flog the Hybrid Hypercar Holy Trinity on Track

There are those who said It would never happen. Top Gear came close to making It happen, before two of the three players got to arguing and subsequently took their balls and went home (of course everybody’s disappointment became a moot point when Clarkson decided to become a pouty Pacquiao, thereby torpedoing the show), just like what happened with every other entity that tried to make It happen. The It to which we’re referring, in case you haven’t figured it out by now, is a direct head-to-head-to-head comparison test of the Ferrari LaFerrari, McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 Spyder. Yet Chris Harris – with a big assist from Pirelli, who helped draft terms rules of engagement with which both Ferrari and McLaren were cool – managed to bring these three hybrid hellions together for a frolic around Portugal’s Portimao circuit, and the results are even better than we thought they’d be.

Of course, Monkey didn’t make this battle royale happen all by his lonesome; in addition to the stellar behind-the-cameras team, Harris enlisted the services of Marino Franchitti(who may or may not be racing the new Ford GTin the World Endurance Championship and/or IMSA next year) and Tiff Needell to help make the big pseudo-race near the end of this 52 minute morsel of car-porn happen.
