TechArt Magnum Porsche Cayenne Turbo is a Super Utility Vehicle
Even though the Porsche Cayenne Turbo – particularly the newest generation – possesses acceleration, braking and cornering capabilities far beyond what one would expect a large, blunt instrument of an automobile to possess, said capabilities aren’t quite bat-scat crazypants enough for TechArt. Well of course they aren’t, you say, because TechArt subsists on tuning Porsches in exchange for money. But let’s ignore the company’s vested interest in enhancing Zuffenhausen’s finest Fahrzeuge and look at the TechArt tuning package for the Cayenne Turbo – the TechArt Magnum – on its own merits, ‘kay?
Naturally, the Magnum has a rather comprehensive body kit. It features new front and rear bumpers, side skirts, a different hood, two rear spoilers, headlight and taillight surrounds, and other exterior paraphernalia. There are also new wheels (22” or 23”), beefier brakes, and a sport exhaust system. But let’s get back to the performance side of the equation…
To give the stock 4.8L twin-turbo V8 even more moxie, TechArt’s powertrain gurus created new exhaust manifolds, turbochargers, air filters and new TechTronic ECU software. The new peak figures are 690 horsepower (or 631 horsepower if the stock Cayenne Turbo’s Sport button isn’t pressed) and 679 lb.-ft of torque. Stomp on the gas pedal and you’ll hit 62 mph from a dead stop in a paltry 3.9 seconds, while top speed clocks in at 191 mph (186 if you stick with the stock 21” wheel diameter.). Crazy? Yes…just the way we like it.
