SRT Tomahawk Vision Gran Turismo is Virtual Insanity [w/ Video]

Usually, we’re not fans of applying names of super awesome vehicles to completely different types of vehicle. It’s generally just a quick and easy way to steal some of the shine off the first vehicle and apply it to duller, drearier machines. Thankfully, that’s not the case with the SRT Tomahawk Vision Gran Turismo, the latest virtual concept car to be revealed for inclusion in Gran Turismo 6.

The Dodge Tomahawk, as you might recall, was an absurdly awesome four-wheeled motorcycle concept from 2003 built around the then-current Viper’s V10. The SRT Tomahawk Vision Gran Turismo may be a car, but it’s a car that’s at least as absurdly awesome as the maniacal Mopar Tomahawk that came before. Underneath the radically low-slung hypercar exterior that, let’s be honest, bears more than a passing resemblance to the McLaren P1, lies a mid-mounted ultra-wide-angle 7.0L V10 that drives the rear wheels and a pneumatic drive system that powers the front wheels. Total system output ranges from a ridiculous 1,450 horsepowerto an unfathomable 2,590 horsepower, with top speeds running the gamut from 250 to 400 mph.

As you’ve probably figured out by now, there won’t just be one SRT Tomahawk VGT coming to GT6 later this summer, but three: The basic S street version, the race-spec GTS-R version wearing a paint scheme and “93” numbering as a tribute to the recent factory-backed Viper GTS-R race car, and the over-the-top X version. All three feature numerous active aero wings and flaps to improve cornering grip, so much so that SRT also had to design a g-suit for the virtual driver. Oh yes, we can’t wait to wring out this monster.
