The First Watch from Singer is as Epic as You’d Expect

While stock air-cooled Porsche 911s aren’t what most people would call cheap these days, all but the rarest and most coveted variants are bargains compared to the ones treated to top-to-bottom makeovers by Singer Vehicle Design. By seamlessly blending modern tech and engineering, classic style and crazy-intricate craftsmanship, the small company from right here in Southern California has helped redefine the restomod genre. Now it’s ready to branch out into watches.

The Singer Track1, as this timepiece is called, features a Jean-Marc Wiederrecht designed AgenGraphe movement that took he and his team more than a decade to perfect. While that was happening, Rob Dickinson – the man behind Singer Vehicle Design – and famed watch designer Marco Borraccino came up with a look for the case, dial and strap befitting not just the works within, but the Singer brand. As a result, the 43 mm brushed titanium case and calfskin leather strap look straight out of the ‘70s, but the hour and minute functions (which use a pair of aluminum rings rotating around the main dial, which is instead home to the chronograph totalizers) keep it cutting edge. Kinda like a Porsche 911 Reimagined by Singer, don’t you think?

Just 50 examples of the “launch edition” Track1 will be made at the production facility in Switzerland, with a suggested retail price of about $41,000.
