Rizk Automobile RA – Based on the 1957 Aston Martin DBR2 Le Mans Race Car
Rizk Automobile Corp is a Phoenix-based builder which is releasing its flagship model, the RA, as an ode to the racing days of old but updated using the best mechanical knowhow available today. The car uses plenty of Formula One technology as it’s built by a former F1 engineer. The Rizk Auto RA is based loosely on the 1957 Aston Martin DBR2 and hopes to provide a modern take on the classic Le Mans race car (below).
Rizk incorporates an aerospace grade aluminum honeycomb chassis along with Carbon Nomex body panels to keep weight down to ensure that the RA is exceptionally stiff and lightweight. This car is the first passenger vehicle to incorporate NASA’s Aerogel Insulation which is used for the entire engine bay and underside of the car. The RA is the most technologically advanced car in the world when it comes to heat insulation. This vehicle weighs in at only 2,100 pounds.
The Rizk Auto RA has a fully independent front and rear suspension system with adjustable coil-over shocks and Wilwood disc brakes all around. Engine options include either a Jaguar V6, a Jaguar V12 or a fuel-injected LS3 Corvette V8. Both Jaguar engines are offered with 5 speed manual transmissions while with the Corvette engine comes with a choice of either a 6-speed manual gearbox or an automatic 6-speed.
The interior of the Rizk RA can be completely customized and features Herman Miller Aeron chairs adapted to a fit a machined rail system for seats, height-adjustable steering (with 4 inches of travel) and reach-adjustable Tilton Racing pedals (with 15 inches of travel). Total cost: roughly $180,000.
