These days, if you (provided you’re a car manufacturer) introduce a new high performance car to the world without having put it through the bucolic bitumen bootcamp that is theNürburgring Nordschleife, most gearheads will simply turn up their noses at you and be on their way. “How will we know,” they will say before departing, “that your new Apex-Spanker GT-RSX63Q won’t flambé its brakes after just one canyon run? Or that it won’t understeer into the sycamores if we try to take an off-camber bend at 60 mph? Show us its ‘Ring time so wemighthave at leastsomeconfidence in its abilities.”
Well,McLarendoesn’t exactly show theNürburgringlap time of its new hybrid hypercar, the McLarenP1, in this video. But it does show the P1 attack The Green Hell with a deluge of sound and fury. So we’ll forgiveMcLarenfor not revealing the P1’s exact lap time (only saying it was under seven minutes) just yet. However, we’re hoping the exact number comes out sooner rather than later…
