RevoZport Rachets up the BMW 1 Series M Coupe

Despite a rather goofy name aimed at preventing fans of the M1 from performing their best youth of Britain imitation, the BMW 1 Series M Coupe is a spectacular car. It’s flared fenders, M3 suspension and rolling stock and rowdy 3.0L twin-turbo straight-six serve up M car fun in a (relatively) small package.

No surprise, then, that numerous tuners are already tripping over themselves to make the smallest and most affordable current product of BMW’s in-house tuning arm even more muscular. One of those aftermarket upgrade providers is Hong Kong-based RevoZport. And although it’s a company that specializes in carbon fiber products for cars and other applications, the folks at RevoZport have made some significant mechanical changes as well.

But let’s start with RevoZport’s area of expertise, specifically the body kit. The new front and rear bumpers, hood, trunk lid, roof panel, side skirts and spoilers located both on the trunk and above the back window not only make the car look like the current M3 GT racecar’s little brother, but it also aids engine and brake cooling, adds a bit of downforce at high speed, and cuts curb weight by a claimed 132 lb. Granted, the kit is priced at $7,479 when you look at the aforementioned benefits, that’s really not such a bad deal.

Yet while all those perks are nice, at the end of the day you’d still have “only” 335hp. Good thing RevoZport is also offering engine upgrades. Performance boosting bits like a reprogrammed ECU, higher capacity intercooler, blow-off valve, high-flow air filters and a titanium sport exhaust system can yield up to 450hp. Hooooo doggy…

So let’s review: Less weight, more power, more grip, and meaner looks. The factory virgin 1 Series M Coupe is already a winner in our eyes, so what does that make RevoZport’s rendition? We’re going to say it’s the Jonathan Goldsmith of cars.
