Residence VDB is Tasty Like Pommes Frites
If you want to live in a place that makes great Trappist beer, promotes meatless Thursdays and boasts Volvo’s second-oldest operating car factory, then the Belgian city of Ghent is your jam. And just to the west of Ghent, in the little town of Baarle along the Leie River, you’ll find a new architectural gem known as Residence VDB. But there’s much, much more to this Flemish bachelor pad than a sharp exterior.
For one thing, Govaert & Vanhoutte Architects topped the house with the three bedrooms and bathrooms, with the master suite providing access to the rooftop terrace. From there you can look down upon the in-ground pool or the private boat dock on the Leie. Downstairs, you’ll find the kitchen and living areas, while the basement houses a bar with a window into the pool, a DJ booth, and a display area for your cars. Pretty sweet, if you ask us.
