Prior Design Lamborghini Gallardo PD-L800 Displays its Wide Pride

If you’re one of the people fortunate enough to own a pre-facelift (2003 to ’08) Lamborghini Gallardo, you probably look forward to every time you go for a drive. After all, it is then that you get to experience the delicately honed chassis, the sonorous song of the 5.0L V10 engine bolted in place behind your right ear, and styling that will likely make you the center of attention.

Unfortunately, if you live in an area with a higher-than-normal concentration of supercars, your early turn of the century junior Lambo is probably doomed to blending in with the herd. Fortunately, Prior Design has a fix for this. And boy what a fix, it is.

Dubbed the PD-L800 kit, this roughly $16,000 body kit takes the Gallardo’s knife-edge styling and adds to it a “GT racer for the street” vibe. The new front bumper looks like a hybrid of sorts between pre- and post-facelift Gallardos, with two big ducts on either side of a small duct between the bumper and splitter. The front bumper flows back into flared fenders, which in turn meet up with lower and wider rocker panels. Wheel arch flares fit over the rear quarter panels, and the rear bumper is lower and wider than the stock piece. Finally, the top side of the car receives a substantial rear wing and a roof-mounted scoop.

The PD-L800 kit (which can either be fitted by the buyer or painted and installed by Prior Design) only includes the aforementioned body panels and accessories, but the wider fenders will allow you to fit the fatter wheels and tires of your choosing. And with bigger contact patches, you can safely start adding power. So the PD-L800 kit can be considered a gateway drug of sorts to grippier and more powerful things. We say, if you have an early Gallardo and the funds, “Just say yes.”
