A Thoroughbred Custom MV Agusta Fit for a Living Legend
If you think Valentino Rossi is the first Italian rider to have thoroughly dominated the world of motorcycle road racing, then you don’t know Ago. Who? Giacomo Agostini, 15-time world champion (seven in the 350cc class, eight in the then-top 500cc class) and 10-time Isle of Man TT race winner (the most of any non-British rider). For much of the 1960s and ‘70s, Agostini was The Guy in two-wheeled grand prix racing, so it should come as no surprise that the marque with which Ago achieved much of his success – MV Agusta – decided to team up with custom shop Deus Ex Machina to create a rolling tribute to the living legend.
The Ago TT, as this red devil has been named, has been relieved of its headlight, turn signals, mirrors and other sundries that are superfluous for track use. Meanwhile, the Deus Ex Machina crew crafted a custom aluminum fuel tank and seat, installed a set of handmade Durelle Racing triple clamps, and fitted a set of clip-on bars from LSL. It’s not a 100% retro look, but there are certainly attributes that will please people who were around to watch this bike’s namesake at the height of his powers. We imagine Ago will have a smile on his face if and when he gets a chance to ride it.
