Minnewoc Mansion is a Wisconsin Fortress of Luxury

When compiling a list of likely places to find a replica of Anne Boleyn’s castle-turned-manor-house, the shore of a moderately sized lake about 30 miles west of downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin wouldn’t seem like it would belong. Yet it is just such a location where you’ll find Minnewoc, a 125-year-old homage to Hever Castle, the onetime home of Henry VIII’s second wife and her family. But don’t let the inspiration behind this regal Badger State estate lull you into thinking it’s just some museum to one of history’s more famous beheaded heads of state…

For one thing, the 7.2 acre lot on which the home is situated features 800 feet of frontage along Oconomowoc Lake’s south shore, and includes a boathouse, a boat dock, and even a small private island. For another, even though it was built back in 1892, the current owners commissioned an extensive restoration and modernization plan that was only recently completed. Translation: The six bedroom, 10 bathroom 16,000 square foot mansion might retain its 16th century flavor, but the lighting, appliances, climate control and other systems and amenities are firmly rooted in the 21st. A rather appealing dichotomy for $10.5 million, if you ask us.
