Mansory Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG Coupe is Two-Plus-Two Much
If the new Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG Coupe isn’t muscular enough for your liking, you could always step up to the V12-powered S65 AMG Coupe. Of course, the S65 is rear-wheel-drive rather than all-wheel-drive (which is a potential dealbreaker for buyers living in snow-prone areas), plus it doesn’t look all that different from its V8-propelled sibling. With that in mind, why not opt for the cheaper S63 and use the money left over to make it faster and/or more distinctive? That’s what Mansory would like to see you do.
The tuning firm that made its name on…uh…polarizing revisions of luxury and exotic automobiles has concocted the package for the extreme eight-cylinder version of the big Benz coupe that you see here. The exterior features a body kit with deeper fascias front and rear, fender flares, dual rear spoilers and a proliferation of scoops and ducts, including a pair of inlets on the hood. Those are necessary to feed fresh outside oxygen into the custom carbon fiber airboxes that are attached to the 5.5L twin-turbo V8, which Mansory has reworked to assault the asphalt to the tune of 888 horsepower and 959 lb.-ft of torque.
Mansory says all that extra oomph will shove this two-door titan to 62 mph in just 3.3 seconds on its way to an electronically-limited 186 mph top speed. Unfortunately, at such an extreme speed, you’ll have to be paying attention to the road and not all the custom leather and carbon fiber work that’s been done to the interior. But in the grand scheme of things, that’s a small price to pay, which we’re quite sure can’t be said of the figure Mansory asks for this complete package.
