Louis Vuitton Looks to Woo Watch Snobs with the Voyager GMT

While serious watch nerds often dismiss timepieces sold by fashion houses as form-over-function “toys,” that’s not really a cause for concern at Louis Vuitton. For one thing, the label’s parent company also owns TAG Heuer, Bulgari and Hublot, meaning the extended LV family already caters to the diehards on multiple fronts. And secondly, just because Louis Vuitton is a fashion label doesn’t mean it can’t create watches that have some function to go with all that form. Case in point: The new Louis Vuitton Voyager GMT.

As the “GMT” part of the name implies, the 41.5mm case contains a GMT function that tracks an additional time zone in 24-hour format. The dial incorporates two plainly-visible “V for Vuitton” motifs, and the Swiss automatic movement boasts 42 hours of power reserve. Prices range from $6,100 for a steel case on a calf or alligator or leather strap to $18,700 for a 18k pink gold case on a strap, with a $6,500 steel case on a matching steel bracelet also offered.
