Louis Vuitton Tambour Horizon is a Digital Designer Delight
Technology companies, as you might expect, have had a leg up on traditional watch manufacturers when it comes to bringing smartwatches to market. But they don’t have the heritage, design expertise or overarching prestige of such legacy brands, and Louis Vuitton is ready to leverage those advantages with its latest smartwatch.
The Louis Vuitton Tambour Horizon is, as the name suggests, inspired by the company’s analog Tambour watch, with an artfully-tapered 42 mm stainless steel case in either a satin or black PVD finish. The difference, of course, is inside, where instead of a tiny jungle of sprockets and springs, you’ll find a mini computer running Androidwear 2.0 and controlled by a vibrant AMOLED touchscreen face with 390×390 resolution. And with retail pricing set at $2,450 for the satin finish version and $2,900 for the black finish, the Tambour Horizon is sure to carve out a sizable slice of the designer smartwatch market for itself.
