Kre House By Takuya Tsuchida Elevates Lamborghini Countach Right Into Living Room
Over the years we’ve seen a fair number of ultimate garages that have quickened our pulses – everything from a Porsche 911 Turbo hidden beneath a garden to architectural marvels that integrate home and garage for museum-quality automobile displays. Some car domiciles have been like something out of Batman while others are fit to grace covers of high-design publications like Dwell.
While we definitely appreciated the clean modern aesthetics of Architecture Digest and Maserati’s Ultimate Garage winner Holger Schubert’s Brentwood home, the masterpiece just completed by well-known Japanese architect Takuya Tsuchida raises the game up no less than two notches.
Tokyo is a sprawling metropolis with millions of people often crammed into diminuitive housing spaces. When a client sitting on a 2,000 square foot plot of land approached Tsuchida with a very demanding set of provisions he rose to the challenge, making full use of the space available. The home was created as a 2 1/2 story single family unit in the Shinagawa district.
The first demand was that a tall tree be planted somewhere in the structure with some type of atrium-like setting. The second request was that a 9 car garage be incorporated into the mix for the customer’s high-end collection of automobiles. And the final stipulation was that the living room has to serve the dual purpose of showroom.
As you can see from the images, Tsuchiya’s solution is functional, elegant and uber-cool. The atrium is in full effect, but it’s the elevator platform that shuffles cars from the garage to the living room that’s the bees knees. The Anniversary Edition Lamborghini Countach only makes the whole seen even more surreal. And from the look of it, he’s got more Lambos in his stash as well. There seems to be no shortage of living room style garages popping up and this is one trend that we hope continues…
