Jerry Weintraub Estate at Bighorn is a Modernist Mansion

The name Jerry Weintraub (who died last July at age 77) might not be super recognizable to the average person who follows the entertainment industry from afar, but to people inside showbiz, he was one of the most accomplished Hollywood figures of the last half-century. He was manager to the likes of Frank Sinatra, Bob Dylan and Neil Diamond, and later served as producer for The Karate Kid, the 2001 remake of Ocean’s Eleven and their respective sequels, among other film and TV projects. Now the late mogul’s distinctive estate at the Canyons At Bighorn gated community and golf resort just south of Palm Desert, California is up for sale.

The striking 9,152 square-foot home hosts six bedrooms, seven-and-a-half bathrooms, a cocktail lounge modeled after the famous Claridge’s Bar in London, a gym, a high-tech media room worthy of a Tinseltown titan of Weintraub’s stature, and a six-car garage. The master suite and living room can both be opened up into the backyard pool area, which also includes some nifty fire features to go with all that water. Priced at a cool $16 million, this palatial pad is well out of reach for most of us. But if it happens to be within your reach, you’ll be hard pressed to find a desert oasis more magnificent than this.
