Infiniti Concept Vision Gran Turismo is a Sensual Beast [w/ Video]
Among the three Japanese luxury brands, Infiniti has always been the one that’s most into “artsy-fartsy” stuff. And when we say “always,” we do mean always; before the original Q45 was revealed to the public, it was teased in print ads and commercials featuring not close-ups and obscured shots of the car, but with rocks, bonsai trees and other Zen paraphernalia. And when the first-gen FX crossover arrived, Infiniti proudly touted its “bionic cheetah” styling language. Frankly, we’re surprised the marque has never insisted that people refer to its showrooms as galleries…
That being said, we think Nissan’s white-collar label did a bang-up job on the sensual beast (their term, not ours) you see here: The Infiniti Concept Vision Gran Turismo. The car – which, along with the Chevrolet Chaparral 2X Vision Gran Turismo Concept, has now been added to Gran Turismo 6 via the latest patch – features exterior styling (penned at Infiniti’s recently-opened China design studio) that borders on the pornographic, but we’d argue that the bigger story lies underneath. Yes, there’s the expected electric motor and associated hybrid hardware, but it’s teamed with a bellowing naturally-aspirated 4.5L V8 rather than some turbocharged four- or six-cylinder pea-shooter. For our money, it makes sounds far more pleasing than a certain other high-speed hybrid wearing Infiniti logos…
