Hublot Classic Fusion Chronograph Berluti Scritto Hides in Plain Sight

Paris-based fashion house Berluti – which specializes in shoes, bags and other leather-intensive men’s accessories – may not be in the watch business, but it does have a partnership with a company that does: Hublot. The two firms’ latest collaboration is called the Hublot Classic Fusion Chronograph Berluti Scritto, and as you’d expect from a product co-developed by the 122-year-old cowhide-centric brand, it makes abundant (and artful) use of the stuff.

Both the 18k King Gold ($36,700) and the black ceramic ($16,700) versions utilize a HUB1143 self-winding chronograph movement residing within a 45 mm case that’s water resistant to 50 meters. Both watches feature leather dials embossed with the Hublot logo and the hour and minute increments along the circumference, and the dials match the straps: Brown on the King Gold and black on the black ceramic. Also, both versions will be limited to 250 units and will ship in lovely presentation boxes lined in Berluti’s Venezia leather and equipped with wax and brushes to help care for the strap. Because if you’re going to drop new-car-money on a watch, you’re going to want to make sure the strap will last.
