Hennessey Joins Six Addicts Anonymous

One of the hottest trends in the premium truck and SUV world right now seems to be triple-axle 6×6 vehicles. Whether created in house (such as was the case with the Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6×6) or by a tuner (like the Land Rover Defender based Kahn Design Flying Huntsman 6×6), these more-wheels machines add a new layer of distinction – not to mention traction – relative to your typical blinged-out rig. Now John Hennessey and his merry band of mega mechanics are set to join this growing club with a bold new take on the new second-generation Ford Raptor.

Dubbed the Hennessey VelociRaptor 6×6, this more monstrous truck is equipped with even meatier 20” wheels and tires, pre-runner front and rear bumpers, additional LED exterior lighting, a roll bar that starts in the bed and wraps over the roof and, of course, a modifications to said bed that accommodate that extra rear axle (both of which have locking diffs). Hennessey also offers a sextet of Brembo brakes, almost every interior trim color and material you can imagine and, if you would describe yourself as a high-value target, armoring.

The “base” VelociRaptor 6×6 – which will retail for $295,000 including the cost of the donor 2017 Raptor – will leave the 450 horsepower 3.5L twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 alone, and performance should be okay. However, if you want it to be more than okay, you can hand HPE another $22,500 for an engine upgrade package with an ECU tune, a bigger intercooler, a stainless steel exhaust system and other bits to bump output to 600 horsepower. Six wheels, six-hundred horses, six-figure price…it all adds up to one beast of a vehicle.
