Heesen Yachts Ilona is a Deluxe Dinghy
Motor yachts are pretty doggone awesome, but not everyone’s a fan of their often bulky, upright appearance. Fortunately, there are many modern motor yachts that offer all the space and amenities you expect in a sleeker package. And the latest creation from the Dutch firm Heesen Yachts is just such a combination…even if it isn’t completely new.
You see, the Ilona – the majestic 121’ aluminum-hulled vessel you see here – was originally launched in 2007 to great acclaim. However, the Heesen Yachts folks decided it needed some freshening, and this is what they (and the team at Omega Architects) came up with. The hull is now finished in a pleasing shade of white, rather than the previous white upper and dark blue lower scheme. The forward sundeck features a hot tub below the removable sunbathing pads, as well as a suite of outdoor exercise equipment. Inside, you’ll find handsome cream chairs and sofas, bamboo flooring and cherry cabinets scattered throughout the common areas and the five posh cabins.
The refitting process also gave the boat’s entertainment systems a comprehensive makeover, including the installation of a kaleidoscope system to serve up some groovy mood lighting. Now if you’ll excuse us, we have to go patent the glow-stick-covered life vest…
