Gresso Regal Gold is a Precious Metal Mobile

The ultra-luxury smartphone market is white-hot right now, with both OEMs and customizers of mobile phones geared toward us peasants creating increasingly ornate portable communicators. Gresso is one of the companies that builds its own phones from scratch, and that Florida-based firm’s latest offering – the Regal Gold – is fancy beyond reproach.

Gresso technicians start with a case made of solid Grade 5 titanium plate. Even with high-tech CNC machines at Gresso’s disposal, the machining and milling process for each case still takes eight hours. The hand-polished back plate is made of 18K gold and covered in a gold-tinted PVD protective coating. Within the case employees install a pair of high-res cameras (a 13-megapixel main camera on the back and a 5-megapixel “selfie camera” on the front), a 5” Full HD display shielded by a layer of Gorilla Glass, a quad-core 1.5 GHz processor, 32 gigabytes of internal memory, 2 gigabytes of RAM, Android 4.2.1 operating system, and a battery that’s good for up to six hours of talk time and 300 hours of standby time per charge.

The Gresso Regal Gold, like the rest of the Regal range, will be limited to just 999 individually-numbered units (You can pick the number for yourself when ordering.) and priced at $6,000; other Regal models can be had for as little (Ha!) as $3,000. For that price, you get the phone, a lovely black leather gift box in which to store it, a charger, instructions and a certificate of authenticity.
