Ford Shelby F-150 Super Snake is Trucking Insane
As dope as the Ford Raptor is, there are plenty of people who wish that Dearborn’s high performance vehicle skunkworks – which goes by the Ford Performance moniker worldwide these days – had stuck to the on-road muscle truck formula. Luckily for them, the aftermarket industry isn’t afflicted with such dune-hopping myopia, and is thus free to build the type of fast F-150s that prefer pavement. And the pumped up pickup coming from the Shelby works is one of the maddest ever.
The 2017 Shelby F-150 Super Snake certainly looks the part of a muscle truck, with a brash body kit, racing stripes, available sport suspension and 22” chrome wheels. Oh, and lots of “Shelby” lettering. But lest you assume this is some half-cocked appearance package, assume again: The 5.0L V8 lurking under the hood has had a thorough going-through and has been topped by a big honking supercharger, which dropkicks output from 385 horsepower to a cuckoo-for-Cocoa-Puffs 750 horsepower. Yowza…which is a word we can also use to describe the F-150 Super Snake’s $96,680 retail price. At least you get a three-year warranty and the exclusivity of owning one of only 150 made for the year in return…
