Ferrari Enzo XX Evolution by edo competition
The Ferrari Enzo is one of the most exclusive and lusted-after cars in the world. In the eyes of many, it is perfection personified. But as we all know, anything and everything is fair game in the world of tuning. So, it’s no surprise that German custom shop edo competition has applied their craft to this venerable supercar. What is surprising, however, is the end result. Many lesser tuners would be content with dropping the ride height, putting on a new exhaust system, swapping out the wheels and calling it a day. Not edo competition. Enter the Enzo XX Evolution.
This tuning operation actually dove in head first to rework the Enzo’s powerplant. edo competition installed new camshafts, titanium valve spring retainers and connecting rods, modified cylinder heads, high flow catalytic converters, high performance exhaust headers, mufflers and air filters. Engine displacement was bumped from 6.0 to 6.3 liters. They even swapped out the standard hydraulic tappets and installed new solid tappets that allow the engine to rev to a whopping 9,600 rpm. There is no other 12 cylinder engine in the world that can make the same claim.
In addition, a new high performance clutch and more powerful oil pump were installed. The stock Ferrari Enzo’s maximum horsepower of 660 was boosted all the way up to 840 hp. While the horsepower was being substantially elevated, the weight was simultaneously decreased by 220 pounds. The end result is that the edo competition Enzo XX Evolution can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 3.2 seconds, reach 124 mph in 9 seconds and hit 186 mph in only 19 seconds. The car tops out at whopping 242 mph.
The Enzo XX Evolution provides a specialized aero package which includes a rear skirt featuring winglets and a rear wing profile. It also serves up a new retractable rear wing sporting a taller flap. New LED tail lights provide a nice update to the rear of the car. An edo/KW race suspension from FIA GT is used to assist with handling all of the extra power. The edo competition Enzo rides on 19 inch wheels up front and 20 inch wheels in the rear with an edo tire pressure monitoring system keeping constant tabs on the rubber.
This new conversion package from edo competition comes complete with a test day including an instructor, a personal mechanic, plenty of data logging, transportation to and from the track, and hospitality. All of the work is done at the company’s location in Ahlen, Germany.
