This BMW Boxer is in Fighting Shape
Considering BMW has been in business for 100 years, it should come as no surprise that the German label has quite the back catalog of awesome motorcycles. One such sweet bike is the R 100 R, a classically-styled road bike powered by an 800cc air-cooled flat-twin that was produced until 1996. And Diamond Atelier, a custom shop in BMW’s hometown of Munich, has transformed one into a classic café racer with some useful modern touches.
Shorn of every piece of stock bodywork except the gas tank (which has itself been customized with a flush-mount, pop-up fuel filler cap), this Beemer’s wire wheels are almost completely uncovered (save for a tiny front fender), while the rider sits atop a custom rear seat and tail section made of ultra thin (0.8 mm) aluminum and monitors speed and other stats with a Motogadget digital display. A titanium exhaust system lets the two-pot boxer sing the song of its people, and if you want to become one of its people, we’re sure Diamond Atelier will build you something similar in exchange for a large quantity of currency.
