Brabus 800 Widestar G-Wagon Lays Claim as the World’s Most Powerful SUV

Brabus 800 Widestar

If you thought the Brabus G V12 S with its 700hp was too tame, German tuner superstar Brabus may have finally outdone themselves. The Brabus 800 Widestar picks up where that behemoth left off and increases power output to 788hp at 5,500 rpm with 811 lb-ft of twist. This comes by way of a hand-built 6.3-liter V12 engine outfitted with a special crankshaft with longer stroke and larger pistons and cylinder bores. In addition, two custom manifolds with built-in turbine housings and high-performance turbos are used to deliver such extreme output. Four water-to-air intercoolers keep things from overheating while a new intake system delivers ample oxygen and a stainless steel high-performance exhaust offers increased flow.

A reinforced 5-speed automatic transmission is used to put that power to the ground via all four wheels. A high-performance braking system including 6-pistcon calipers with 380mm vented discs up front and 4-piston calipers with 345mm vented rotors in back keeps things in check. The sprint from 0-62 mph takes a scant 4.0 seconds flat. Top speed is 168mph but it’s electronically limited to 149 mph. Brabus Ride Control’s automatic damping system helps balance driving comfort and sport handling making sure you don’t have to suffer teeth chatter as you tear up terrain.

Notable styling differences over the underlying Mercedes-Benz G Wagon platform include a wraparound Widestar body kit, flared fenders, revised door moldings, stainless steel running boards, integrated LED lights embedded in the fenders and massive 23-inch Brabus “Platinum Edition” rims.

Brabus always offers the full monty and delivers the goods with an interior doused in luxury and the Widestar 800 is no exception. Brabus Mastik leather and Alcantara is stitched throughout with a plethora of color choices as well as various uphostery designs and wood trim options. In order to add a touch of “aggro” vibe, Brabus installs a sport steering wheel, speedometer with 280 kmh (182 mph) limit as well as stainless-steel scuff plates with illuminated Brabus logos, a staple in all their creations.
