Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato Concept Brings Razzle and Dazzle

We all know Aston Martin and Zagato have been BFFs for over half a century, so it was only a matter of time before the Italian coachbuilder rolled out another reinterpretation of one of the British nameplate’s production models. And for this weekend’s Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, the Anglo-Italian twosome has crafted the scarlet stunner you see here, the Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato Concept.

Based, unsurprisingly, on the second-generation Vanquish, this Zagato re-skin looks like a slightly scaled up version of the V12 Zagato, but it also incorporates cues from other modern Astons like taillights inspired by the new Vulcan track toy and rearview mirrors based on the ones affixed to the doors of the One-77. And of course, it wouldn’t be a Zagato creation without some form of “double bubble” roofline. Will this grand tourer reach production, even on a limited basis? It’s hard to say at this point, but if enough would-be buyers come forward, checkbooks in hand, to make it worth the two companies’ while, you just know they’ll find a way to make it happen.
