Alpha-N Performance Powers up the Ferrari California T and 488 GTB

Although there are a great many people annoyed with Ferrari’s decision to replace its naturally aspirated V8s with a 3.9L twin-turbo V8 in the new California T and 488 GTB and Spider, the fact of the matter is they didn’t have much choice given the current regulatory climate. Of course, even though there will always be someone moaning about garbled exhaust notes and fractions-of-seconds delays in throttle response, it’s not all vedere tutto nero; going turbo means that it’s now much easier and more practical for tuners to unlock even more thrust. And you need not look any further than the team at Alpha-N Performance for proof.

Alpha-N doesn’t do anything to modify the exteriors of the aforementioned force-fed Ferraris, nor does it do anything to their interiors, suspension systems or braking systems. But let’s face it: Both the California T and the 488 are already pretty damn good in those areas. They’re also pretty good on the power front, but Alpha-N’s EVOX ECU tuner module makes them even greater. The company says the box bumps the California T to 671 horsepower and 644 lb.-ft of torque, while the one for the 488 pumps power up to 779 horsepower and torque to 634 lb.-ft. Figures like those elevate the two models into some pretty rarified air, air that we’re confident the people who relieve themselves of the roughly $3,200 needed to procure an EVOX module will enjoy inhabiting.
