2018 Bentley Continental GT Supersports Goes Big, Not Home [w/ Video]

As one of the world’s most popular luxury super coupes, the Bentley Continental GT is perennially driving around with a bullseye on its bootlid. And with increasingly more capable performance versions of the Ferrari GTC4 Lusso, Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe and other premium big four-seat two-doors arriving on a fairly regular basis, the incentive for the Crewe crew to keep up with the Joneses is high. But the new 2018 Continental GT Supersports is ready to do way more than just “keep up.”

Like the original pre-facelift Supersports, the outward appearance of this new super-duper coupe is decidedly more aggressive than that of lesser Contis. In fact, we’d argue it’s not much less angry looking than the Continental GT3-R. However, that turn-key race car homage is a 572 horsepower wet noodle compared to the new Supersports’ 700 horsepower, 750 lb.-ft rendition of the tried-and-true twin-turbo 6.0L W12. Yes, that makes this the most powerful production Bentley ever, as well as the quickest (0-60 mph in 3.4 seconds) and fastest (with a top speed of 209 mph) ever. Oh, and if you’re willing to accept slightly less ungodly acceleration and V-max figures, there will also be a Continental GTC Supersports convertible offered. Because even plutocrats can’t always have their cake and ingest it as well…
