2015 MV Agusta Brutale 800RR Wants to Slay Some Giants
You know the old saying, “It’s not about the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog?” Well in the performance motorcycle world circa 2014, MV Agusta is like a Chihuahua that’s constantly imploring Dobermans and Pit Bulls to “Come at me, bro!” And the latest example of MV Agusta punching above its weight is a new-for-2015 variant of the Brutale 800, the Brutale 800RR. The 798cc inline-triple is shared with the regular middleweight Brutale, but it has been tuned to make 138 horsepower and 63 lb.-ft of torque instead of the usual 123 horsepower and 60 lb.-ft. Couple that with a Quickshifter EAS 2.0 system, slipper clutch, eight-stage traction control and a 370 lbs. dry weight and you’ve got a formidable little pugilist of an Italian sport bike. Of course, considering it’s priced at the equivalent of about $17,800 with applicable European taxes and fees, it bloody well ought to be formidable.
