2009 New York Auto Show – Audi A5/S5 Cabriolet Official Debut
The new Audi A5 and Audi S5 Cabriolet have just made their debut at the 2009 New York Auto Show. Both models sport a new lightweight fabric top that opens in 15 seconds. Just long enough to slap on your sunglasses and take a sip of latte. There are now folding rear seat backs and a large pass through available between the trunk and interior as a result of using a cloth top.
The Audi A5 is a fine car but the Audi S5 is great performer and so that is where we will focus our attention. The Audi S5 Cabriolet uses a 4.2L V8 that’s good for 354 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque. It has a top speed of 155 mph and a 0 to 60 mph time of 4.9 seconds. A manual six-speed transmission comes standard but there is also a six-speed automatic S Tronic with manual shift control available. The S5 offers an innovative sports differential which distributes power between the rear wheels for more aggressive driving. The optional Audi drive selector vehicle dynamic system (take a breath) allows the operator to customize the vehicle’s steering and suspension as well as engine and transmission mapping.
