Wimmer RS Porsche 911 GT2 with 680 HP Does 221 MPH
German tuner Wimmer Racing Technology has just released a new package for the Porsche 911 GT2 that is pretty phenomenol. With all the attention focused on modifying the less expensive GT3 (base $112,200), many have shyed away from tweaking the already stellar GT2 (base $194.000). For an extra $40,000, you get a remapped ECU, upgraded Wimmer turbochargers, reworked cylinder heads and sport camshafts and a custom exhaust with two Zeller sport catalysts. These changes allow the Wimmer GT2 to gain 150 hp above stock for a rating of 680 hp. According to Wimmer, this allow a 0 to 62 mph sprint of 3.4 seconds, two-tenths better than the base model. Top speed is listed at 221 mph.
In addition, Wimmer Rennsporttechnik Solingen includes carbon fiber exterior mirrors and a rear spoiler lip with the option to get everything in carbon fiber (and I mean everything). The chassis of the Porsche 911 GT2 has been strengthened by using H&R components. In order to meet the demands of high-speed driving, special Dunlop MaxxPerformance rubber is used with 235/30-20 tires fitted in front and 325/25-20 in rear.
