• Violence against Tires (and Other Things): Grand Theft Gymkhana 2 Drops [Video]

It’s been more than a month since we brought you YouTube user domesticmango’s Grand Theft Auto IV/Ken Block Gymkhana mashup, “Grand Theft Gymkhana.”  And considering how straight-up redonkulous that video was, we knew that crafty locally-sourced fruit was going to have a hard time concocting a sequel capable of topping it. But you know what? He’s managed to do exactly that.

Check it: Highly-customized Nissan S13 hatchback. Random cartoon characters. Vert ramps. And explosions. Lots and lots of explosions, like enough to make even Michael Bay say, “Dude, pace yourself!” Long story short, “Grand Theft Gymkhana 2” is one of the maddest machinimas (i.e. CGI movies and short films rendered in real time, usually with video games) we’ve ever witnessed. And we can’t wait to see what domesticmango cooks up next.

  • Hot Mod Hoonigans: domesticmango Presents Grand Theft Gymkhana [Video]

video still 032 640x346 Hot Mod Hoonigans: domesticmango Presents Grand Theft Gymkhana [Video]

As nice as console versions of video games from the Grand Theft Auto series are (easy-to-learn controls, no need to worry about system hardware requirements, etc.), they simply don’t hold a candle to their PC-format counterparts. The reason why this is so? In a word, modding. There exists a colossal, worldwide community of coders, artists and others dedicated to creating content (both original and based on trademarked real-world properties) that would otherwise never show up in one of these controversy-conjuring video games in their as-programmed-by-Rockstar state.

Unsurprisingly, one of the most popular mod categories is vehicles, where seemingly every non-fictional car, truck, bike or whatever you can name is available. This list includes Ken Block’s gymkhana-spec Ford Fiesta, rendered in staggering detail. Our citrus-scented friend domesticmango – who put together the Forza Motorsport 4 Harlem Shake seen last week – thought it would be the cat’s pajamas to stage a gymkhana video on the streets and alleys of GTA4’s Big Apple stand-in, Liberty City. The result is loud, artful and full of unexpected spectators (See how many you can spot.). And yes, that sequel is in-the-works…

  • Ken Block Gymkhana Spoof from IMV Films is Killer! (VIDEO)

gymkhana spoof 0 Ken Block Gymkhana Spoof from IMV Films is Killer! (VIDEO)

We all know how awesome the Gymkhana Practice Video and Gymkhana Two Informercial are from Ken Block. And it was only a matter of time before a spoof video was released, but oh man, what a job the folks at IMV Films have done! This thing is part jackass, part wanton-abondonment for-public-safety and pure fun from start to finish. These guys have it all — paintball shooting, fireworks dodging, train track jumping, loads of moving violations, baby smashing and trailer destroying — with lots of “dynamic” driving thrown in the loop.

IMV Films prove that you don’t need a Crawford Performance 530 whp car, a high-end production crew and an entire airfield to make a hype video. Just a beat up WRX Impreza, a couple of sets of tires and a creative imagination is all that’s required. If you like this kinda stuff also peep Vehicular Lunatics or Team Tork and the Scumballers from the same production shop. Anyhow, check out the Gymkhana Spoof video after the jump:
