• Don’t Try This at Home: Jason Britton Hoons the New Kawasaki ZX-6R [Video]

We’re all familiar with those t-shirt-wearing knuckleheads who like to pop wheelies on their motorcycles while clogging up the diamond lane on the highway, right? Of course we are. There exists a certain temptation to call these yahoos stunt riders. Don’t give in to that temptation; they’re merely squids literally and figuratively taking their act on the road.

Jason Britton, on the other hand, is no squid. You might recognize him as the host of Super Bikes!, a program that aired on the soon-to-go-bye-bye Speed network, but he’s also one of the top professional stunt riders in the country, if not the world. And in this video from MotorTrend’s “On Two Wheels” series, not only does JB demonstrate his amazing skills, but also his new 2013 Kawasaki ZX-6R and the modifications he’s made to it. And oddly enough, the setting appears to be the parking lot of Kawasaki’s U.S. headquarters. But you know what they say: One man’s parking lot is another man’s playground.

  • Robbie Maddison’s AIR.CRAFT is Gymkhana on Half the Wheels [Video]

video still 013 640x352 Robbie Maddison’s AIR.CRAFT is Gymkhana on Half the Wheels [Video]

If there’s one thing that Ken Block’s growing library of Gymkhana videos has taught Wall Street and Madison Avenue alike, it’s that hoonage sells. More specifically, hoonage draws millions of pairs of eyeballs that can subsequently be sold stuff. But we have a question for Señor Block and the rest of the large goudas at DC Shoes:  Does the Gymkhana formula require four wheels?

Apparently, they’ve already answered that question with a resounding “No.” Witness DC Shoes-backed freestyle motocrosser Robbie Maddison and his romp through an Arizona warplane morgue. On paper, AIR.CRAFT was made to promote the Aussie throttlejockey’s new signature apparel line; in practice, it’s proof that steel shipping containers have uses besides being filled with Chinese exports or converted into freestanding meth kitchens. Who knew?

  • VIDEO: Ken Block Drops Gymkhana Five with Travis Pastrana, Big Air and Styx, Oh My!

02 gymkhana 5 VIDEO: Ken Block Drops Gymkhana Five with Travis Pastrana, Big Air and Styx, Oh My!

Way back in Aught-Eight, when DC Shoes cofounder and budding rally driver Ken Block released a video of him bombing around the former El Toro Marine Corps Air Station deep in the heart of Please-Don’t-Call-it-the-O.C. in his gymkhana-spec Subaru WRX STI, we doubt even he knew just how big a chord it would strike with the outside world. Millions upon millions of views and three full-fledged sequels (plus a switch from Subaru to Ford) followed, and every time the question arose: “How’s he going to top the last one?”

Some will argue that he hasn’t always improved with each subsequent video, while others will maintain that he has. Regardless of which sentiments you hold, Kenny B has just released the fifth chapter in the Gymkhana saga and, if nothing else, it’s certainly the most ambitious one yet. How so? Well, it involved closing down parts of a major American city (one that tends to look down its nose at cars, at that), for starters.

  • VIDEO: Motorcycle Stunt Rider Shin Kinoshita is Melt-Your-Mind Talented

shin kinoshita 1 VIDEO: Motorcycle Stunt Rider Shin Kinoshita is Melt Your Mind Talented

For as long as many people can remember, motorcycles and stunts have been joined at the (frequently broken) hip. From the diamond-balled daredevils of the Roaring Twenties who stared the Grim Reaper and nausea in the face by riding inside the Wall of Death, to the marrow-mashing exploits of a certain E. Knievel in the ‘60s and ‘70s, to the crotch rocket mounted hoons of today, wherever two wheels and an engine can be found, serial thrillseekers are often close by.

Of course, the laws of physics and the basic design and engineering principles behind a motorcycle limit what can be done with it, but that hasn’t stopped some truly gifted and/or crazy riders from trying to find those limits and perform right on the edge of those limits. And no present-day rider we’ve seen better exemplifies this pioneering spirit than Shin Kinoshita, who rides for the Icon-sponsored Empire team. Think we’re exaggerating? Make the jump to watch this prodigy in action and decide for yourself.

Motorcross rock star Robbie Maddison recently performed an amazing tour de force by flawlessly executing a no-handed backflip over a wide open Tower Bridge on July 13th at 2:55am in London. The last big stunt the 27-year-old Australian completed was soaring off a ramp onto a life-size replica of the Arc de Triomphe in Las Vegas on New Year’s Eve, which was the highest ever “step up” leap. This daredevil and stunt bike phenom also holds the world record for the longest ever motorbike jump of 350.7 ft (106.9 meters). Check out the video after the jump!
