Say what you will about its name (but do keep in mind the old saying, “If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all.”), but the Ferrari LaFerrari (or simply LaFerrari, otherwise you’ll be saying “Ferrari the Ferrari” in Italian) is one hell of an automobile. Its neck-snapping styling, V12 and hybrid system one-two punch and limited production status have already made it a classic. And the first customer delivery hasn’t even happened yet!

But what if said customers want to have the LaFerrari experience even when they aren’t near their LaFerrari? No, it doesn’t involve uncorking those 900+ horsepower or negotiating turns as the active spoilers flap away. However, it does involve a super stylish engine-inspired watch that looks like no timepiece we’ve ever seen before. And it comes courtesy of the Swiss artisans and Hublot.

  • Lyonheart K is a Love Letter to a Legend

    LHK CAB 1 1600x900 640x360 Lyonheart K is a Love Letter to a Legend

When the Jaguar E-Type (a.k.a. XK-E) debuted at the 1961 Geneva Motor Show, it made the motoring world wet the metaphorical bed. It made the Chevrolet Corvette seem positively ancient (which it most certainly was; 1949 Chevy passenger car chassis, anyone?). It made the Porsche 356 look even more like a coachbuilt VW Beetle. And it prompted Enzo Ferrari, who was notorious for handing out praise roughly once every fifth blue moon, called it the most beautiful car in the world.

While there may never be a car that takes the industry’s breath away quite like this shapely cat from Coventry, that hasn’t stopped Jaguar from trying to go back to the well. Nor has it stopped other companies from producing their own tributes to the immortal E. And one of the most striking in recent memory is the Lyonheart K.

  • 2013 Audi R8 China Edition Offers Exclusive Interior & Exterior

Audi R8 China Edition 1 640x400 2013 Audi R8 China Edition Offers Exclusive Interior & Exterior

Luxury automakers have been making China specific models as limited edition showcases for many years. Recall the Ferrari GTB 599 Fiorano done up by Chinese artist Lu Hao, per chance? Audi is the latest OEM to offer a special version for the Peoples Republic and the result is rather stunning. There is no tuning per se, but the V10 offering serves as an already worthy platform for a fresh coat of paint, some new shoes and an overhauled cabin.

The stock 5.2-liter engine is good for 525 hp and 391 lb-ft of torque and sprints the 2013 Audi R8 China Edition from 0-62 mph in just 3.9 seconds. The paddle shifters operate the automatically controlled R tronic manual transmission delivering power to all wheels. Audi follows the old adage of “If it ain’t broke, don’t mess with it.”

  • Mansory Lamborghini Aventador Carbonado “Black Diamond” is Feathery and Ferocious

586939154898712664 Mansory Lamborghini Aventador Carbonado “Black Diamond” is Feathery and Ferocious

The Lamborghini Aventador is already, quite likely, the most extroverted new car you can buy. The jetfighter-esque styling, the bellowing 6.5L V12 and the scissor doors that have been a hallmark of Lambo flagships since the Countach are all sure to make you immensely popular with your fellow gas station patrons. Wealthy recluses should definitely look elsewhere for their transportation needs.

On the other hand, if you’re a wealthy people person and don’t think the Aventador is outgoing enough to meet your needs, you can always buy one and send it to a tuner to make it an even more of an attention grabber (if not faster, too). And Mansory’s latest Aventador-based creation is certainly great at getting noticed.

  • TopCar Vantage GTR2 is an Extra Spicy Porsche Cayenne

0001 TopCar Vantage GTR2 is an Extra Spicy Porsche Cayenne

Like it or not (a high percentage of brand loyalists are still firmly in the “not” camp), the Porsche Cayenne has been a cash cow for the brand almost since its introduction in 2002. Buyers who would have never considered becoming Porsche owners, as well as people who did consider it but were vetoed by practicality requirements and/or the opinions of a significant other, have snapped up Zuffenhausen’s SUV en masse. And with hybrid and diesel versions available, the Cayenne’s desirability appears to be pretty well insulated from oil price volatility.

Of course, as we all know, popularity breeds ubiquity, and not every lover of Porsche’s stump-jumper is down with that. Fortunately for them, Russian tuner TopCar is giving 50 such individuals a chance at making their Cayenne considerably harder to lose in the parking lot thanks to the Vantage GTR2 package.

2013 Lucra LC470 4 2013 Lucra LC470 Gives New Meaning to “Retro Rocket”

The mid- to late-1950s can easily be called the first golden era of sports car racing. Not only did this period see factory-backed sports racing cars from the likes of Jaguar, Ferrari, Maserati, Mercedes-Benz (briefly) and Chevrolet (even more briefly), but also cars from independent builders like Lister, Scarab and Lotus that only built the bodies and chassis and had to source (or their customers had to source) powertrains from a major manufacturer or racing engine builder.

It is from this latter group of ‘50s sports racing cars that Lucra Cars – based right here in L.A. – draws inspiration from, specifically the iconic Lister “Knobbly” that was typically powered by a Jaguar straight-six or a Chevrolet V8. The 2013 Lucra LC470 is also powered by a Chevy V8, but this engine, much like the car in which it’s installed, isn’t some Ike era relic.

  • Vorsteiner Announces the GTRS5 Package for the BMW M3

vorsteiner bmw m3 gtrs5 Vorsteiner Announces the GTRS5 Package for the BMW M3

With the current BMW M3 fast approaching the end of its life, you would think the tuning world would have quit developing new parts and pieces for it by now, instead turning its attention to the pending arrival of the fifth generation M3 (or M4, depending on the number of doors and the news source you read). Thing is, that hasn’t really been the case, at least not yet. This is probably as good an indicator as any of the E92 M3 coupe’s (and, to slightly lesser extents, the E93 cabriolet’s and E90 sedan’s) broad appeal and extraordinary performance potential.

One of the companies that’s still taking advantage of those and other positive attributes is Vorsteiner. The American firm’s latest creation, as you can see, gives fans of widebody conversions all the love they can handle (and maybe a little more), but is that all it does?

aston martin v12 vantage carbon black 01 0 Aston Martin Carbon Black Special Editions DBS and Vantage Taken to the Darkside

The all carbon-fiber Manory Cyrus may be a little too much for some folks, but Aston Martin definitely recognizes the strong draw for blacked-out supercars sporting exotic materials. Aston Martin has introduced Carbon Black Special Editions for their DBS and V12 Vantage coupes, each rocking a metallic black finish. This magnificent paint is formulated to glimmer differently from various angles and requires 50 hours of additional labor.

In the case of the Aston Martin V12 Vantage, the strake in the fender vent is made out of carbon-fiber with black mesh for an added touch of flare. Gloss black 10 spoke diamond turned alloy wheels complete the ominous look. A bright finished grille and front parking sensors provide a nice bit of contrast.

scion sb rs 7 01 0 2009 LA Auto Show: 2010 Scion xB Release Series 7.0 Unveiled

Each year it seems that the LA Auto Show serves as the launch platform for the unveiling of a new special edition model from Scion. This year the company dropped the xB Release Series 7.0, a revitalized and jazzed up variant of their popular sport-ute. Only 2,000 limited editions will be built with each uniquely numbered. The show car, designated number 007, features a special purple hue known as “Murasaki” that has elicited visceral reactions, both good and bad.

The Scion xB Release Series 7.0 comes with lowered TRD springs that drop the vehicle’s height by a full inch. A four-piece DAMD body kit adds a lower front and rear lip, side skirts with a rear spoiler optional. A new sport exhaust system also is included with double-walled tailpipes.
