We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: Today’s Izod IndyCar Series is putting on some of the best racing no one is watching. In the 15 races run so far this season, 10 different drivers have won, including four first-timers (James Hinchcliffe, Takuma Sato, Simon Pagenaud and Charlie Kimball). And this Sunday’s Grand Prix of Baltimore (which will be carried live at 2 p.m. Eastern/11 a.m. Pacific on NBC Sports Network) has a good chance of adding to those remarkable totals.
But first, let’s wind the clock back to last week, and the open test before last Sunday’s GoPro Grand Prix of Sonoma. Naturally, as a maker of small HD action video cameras, the race sponsor decided to document the proceedings, enlisting the help of three of Andretti Autosport’s drivers: Hinchcliffe, Marco Andretti and 2012 Izod IndyCar Series Champion Ryan Hunter-Reay. We see Hinch and RHR engage in some pit cart horseplay (and hear the Mayor of Hinchtown drop an sh-bomb; whoops) before joining Marco out on track in their Chevrolet-powered steeds. Dear IMS Productions: More camera angles like these, please!
