Regula Tuning Audi R8 V10 Spyder Makes Us Pine for Summer
As chilly (if not downright wintry) weather settles in over the Northern Hemisphere, the best days for convertible driving are behind us once again for another year. However, car makers and car tuners often announce new convertibles during the winter months, as if to give open-air motoring fans even more to look forward to come spring and summer. Of course, this practice does have a notable drawback: It makes waiting through the months of snow flurries and meat-locker-worthy temperatures that much harder.
And the wait for the thaw will be extra painful this year thanks to the gang at Regula Tuning. Turns out the newest creation to emerge from the firm’s Schwerte, Germany shop is a facelifted Audi R8 V10 Spyder that’s dressed to the nines.
Regula Tuning crafts the body kit entirely from carbon fiber, and the kit includes a new front fascia with gaping, mesh-filled grille openings, stepped side skirts, a rear fascia with two big round exhaust openings and a mammoth diffuser, and a super-subtle ducktail spoiler. The red striping around most of the openings looks quite sharp butting up against the white body. And the red striping continues on the rims of the mostly black 20” Oxigen-Oxrock wheels.
If you’re expecting engine enhancements to match the aesthetic enhancements, we’re afraid you’re going to have to temper those expectations. Regula Tuning has left the 5.2L V10 untouched, which isn’t the worst thing in the world when you consider it makes 525 horsepower straight off the showroom floor. But if you need even more oomph, you’ll have to look elsewhere.
On the bright side, you will have a decent-sized chunk of change to spend on powertrain upgrades. Regula Tuning is selling the body kit for about $10,700, which isn’t too bad when you consider how much carbon fiber and labor goes into the production of these pieces. And don’t fret if you don’t have a Spyder; the company says this body kit will fit any version of the Audi R8, coupe or convertible, original or facelift. Sounds good to us!
