Jay Leno’s vast car collection has dozens of rides we lust after. But one member of his fleet that’s a cut above the rest (in our opinion, anyway) is his thoroughly-customized 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado. For those who aren’t familiar with this golden Olds, Jay and the guys at his Big Dog Garage converted it from front- to rear-wheel-drive, mounting that striking body on a custom chassis featuring a mix of Corvette C5 and C6 suspension bits. And they evicted the original 425 cubic-inch Oldsmobile Rocket V8 in favor of a twin-turbocharged LS-series V8 of nearly the same displacement making right around 1,000 horsepower. Rad, no?
Alas, unless Jay and his wife Mavis decide to adopt us (Of course, since we’re housebroken and all our shots are up to date, why wouldn’t they?), it’s unlikely we’ll ever get to drive the real thing. However, we can drive it in the recently released Gran Turismo 6 for the PlayStation 3. And as it turns out, Jay can drive it in the game, too (though maybe not as neatly as he’d like), in addition to the real Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo concept which, it turns out, is a 1:1 scale R/C car. Hmmmm…we think we prefer the virtual version of that one…
