0 On Automotive Theatre and the Aeromax: A Chat with Charles Morgan [Video]

Most of us are familiar with the hallmarks of a born-with-a-silver-spoon-type executive: The spoiled, insulated-from-the-real-world products of nepotism who are at least one generation removed from the founding of the company they now helm. Furthermore, the glide path of a family business is similarly common knowledge: The first generation builds it from the ground up, the second generation nurtures (and occasionally expands) it, and the third generation flies the whole thing into the side of a mountain at Mach 6 (metaphorically speaking). Charles Morgan, however, bucks all of those stereotypes, and probably a few more we didn’t name.

Charles Morgan, you see, is the grandson of Henry Frederick Stanley Morgan, the man who founded the tiny British sports car manufacturer that bears the family name 103 years ago. And rather than taking one of the typical son-of-the-founder’s-son routes (either “managing” the firm into bankruptcy yourself or spending your board membership stipend on callgirls and lines of coke to do on the smalls of their backs while letting your handpicked yes-men sink the company for you), family man Charles is very much hands-on, and very much cognizant of what Morgan customers want. In this terrific video from XCAR, Charles explains what makes a Morgan a Morgan, specifically as it pertains to the limited edition (as in only 100 were made) Aeromax. And yes, Charles uses his Aeromax as his daily driver.
