Sachs MadAss 125 is An Absolute BadAss

Usually when we're talking about wicked motorbikes our minds gravitate towards Italian companies like Ducati or Japanese companies like Yamaha. However, the Germans can't be discounted when it comes to the world of motorcycles. In fact, the last bike we showcased from Deutschland was the 2010 BMW S 1000 RR Superbike, a true force to be reckoned with and top of class.

Now, another venerable operation, Sachs Bikes, is making its name known in the States. Their recent release of the 2009 MadAss 125 is taking the market by storm. I don't remember coming across something that I just had to have in a long long time, but this is going in my garage in the very near future! Stay tuned for the road test review!

Before discussing this motorbike, let's back up for a second to talk about the parent company of Sachs Bikes, ACHS Fahrzeug- und Motorentechnik GmbH, which is actually the largest producer of motorized bicycles in the world. They offer motorcycles, scooters, mopeds, motor assisted bicycles, electro bicycles, ATVs and mini-cars. And Sachs Bikes is the oldest two-wheel manufacturer in the world.

The 2009 MadAss Sachs 125 sports an air cooled 4 stroke engine that's good for 124cc. This is actually more than enough juice to push the 220 lbs (dry weight) MadAss around at a nice clip. The transmission is manual (Yes!) and this is a huge plus which makes the MadAss more motorcycle than scooter. Its biggest claim to fame is the frame design which transfers jolts from the back wheel up to the front suspension and not to the rider. If you are looking for the gas tank and not having much luck, that's because it's actually carried in the frame. The MadAss has two H.I.D. headlights and dual disc brakes. It also rides on tubeless low-profile tires wrapped around 16 inch alloy wheels. The cost for the Sachs MadAss 125 is $2,700.
