Items passed down through a family from one generation to the next carry much more emotional (if not monetary) value than ones that are simply sold or discarded once the clan to which they belong decides they’ve outlived their usefulness. Whether it’s a piece of jewelry, a household knick-knack or, yes, even an automobile, family heirlooms are meant to be treasured and enjoyed.
That’s certainly what Brian Hobaugh is doing with his highly-modified 1965 Chevrolet Corvette autocross car. Not only has this wild-looking (but fully functional) classic Corvette been in the Hobaugh family for about 30 years and soon-to-be three generations, but it has also been autocrossing all its life. And as Big Muscle host Mike Musto discovers, that meticulously-tuned suspension and those massive wheels and tires give this scarlet Sting Ray astonishing grip.
