Eurocopter EC145 By “Mercedes-Benz Style” Takes High Flying to New Levels of Luxury
Mercedes-Benz has been the luxury benchmark in the automotive world since the turn of the century. But that hasn’t stopped the company from branching out to extend their styling sensibilities to other facets of locomotion. We’ve seen them apply their craft to pedal bikes, motorboats, yatchs and more recently helicopters.
Just unveiled at the European Business Aviation Convention and Exhibit in Geneva (where else would you have such an extravaganza afterall?), the utility workhorse Eurocopter EC145 has been re-envisioned by the folks at the Mercedes-Benz Advanced Design Studio in Lake Como, Italy. Used as everything from an air ambulance to police copter to civic defender, the EC145 has been morphed into the ultimate corporate charter for captains of industry.
Design Chief Gorden Wagener and his team pulled out all of the usual stops from Stuttgart’s cache of S and E-class models including ambient lighting, wood trim, multifunction boxes as well as high-end equipment options. “The interior design of the Eurocopter EC145 ‘Mercedes-Benz Style’ helicopter represents the classic passion of the Mercedes-Benz design language and fulfils the very highest expectations in terms of elegance, luxury and comfort”, says Wagnerer.
The interior of the Eurocopter EC145 also has been outfitted with an impressive amount of flexibility by way of a rail system which incorporates all seats, allowing multiple configurations to handle anywhere from 4 to 8 passengers as well jettison the seats all together to make room for luggage.
The “Mercedes-Benz Style” division has plans to continue to push past transportation to focus on furniture, lifestyle products and industrial design.
