BMW Concept 1 Series tii

Originally posted by a BMW insider on germancarzone, it appears that a SuperSports model of the BMW 1 Series Coupe may appear in 2010. An M1 may not be in the cards but a compelling substitute may more than suffice. Similar to the trend started with the 2009 BMW M3, the 1 Series performance version will incorporate mucho carbon fiber which most likely will appear on the hood, roof and trunk lid.

In addition, more proficient brakes and a stiffer suspension system, lightweight glass and a reduction in interior creature comforts are likely adjustments. The BMW Concept 1 Series tii, first shown at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show, wet the appetite with a preview of an upcoming BMW Performance Package, creating much speculation that the future M1 was being presented in a smoke and mirrors fashion.

Two variants of the car are expected. The BMW1 SeriesSuperSport edition will be available for the 120i model, with a high-output turbocharged 4 cylinder currently under review and 135i model, utilizing an upgraded 6 cyclinder in development.
