Meet the Porsche 919 Hybrid of Watches
While we’re sure it was in the works long before the Porsche 919 Hybrid was gifted its second-consecutive 24 Hours of Le Mans overall win – making it 18 total for the brand – a few weeks ago when the dominantly-leading Toyota crapped the bed on the penultimate lap, the timing of the release for this new watch from Chopard (the official watchmaking partner of the Porsche FIA World Endurance Championship team) couldn’t have worked out much better.
The Chopard Superfast Chrono Porsche 919 Black Edition, as you might have guessed, is a special version of the standard Superfast Chrono Porsche 919 with a black dial and DLC black finish on the 45mm titanium case. Chopard’s own 03.05-M automatic chronograph movement provides the power (up to 60 hours’ worth), while a black strap with DLC black titanium buckle keeps it firmly affixed to one’s wrist. Unfortunately, only 100 wrists will get to rock this tasty timepiece (priced at $14,370 a pop), though keep in mind that’s still more people than will ever drive a 919 Hybrid in competition.
