2012 Geneva Top 25 Title

The Geneva Motor Show is one of the auto industry’s best-known rites of Spring. Every March, the motoring world converges on the lakeside Swiss metropolis to gawk at all the new models (vehicular and otherwise) on neutral ground. It’s absolutely one of the crown jewels of the international auto show calendar.

And because it’s such a prestigious show, the manufacturers tend to bring their best production and concept cars to the Geneva Palexpo. This means picking out the best of the best is a mighty daunting task, which is why we’ve decided to expand the field to 25. We’ve got a lot of ground to cover, so let’s hop to it.

Lamborgini Aventador J Might Be the Rowdiest Roadster Ever

It's pretty safe to say that Lamborghini has never built a subtle car. Sure, some early ones like the 350GT and Miura can be considered curvaceous and classically beautiful, but there's never really been a Lambo that didn't command more than a passing glance. What's more, they've typically had outrageous performance to go with the outrageous looks.

The company's latest flagship, the Aventador, is certainly extroverted in just about every area. With 691hp from the brand new 6.5L V12 and menacing styling inspired by the likes of the Reventon and Sesto Elemento, few cars can match the Aventador in the mandible lowering department. But now there's a car - another Aventador at that - that will handily do just that. Say ciao to the Aventador J.

2013 Ferrari F12berlinetta front 3/4 view

In the world of front-engine, two-passenger, V12 grand tourers, Ferrari has arguably been the most prolific and most proficient manufacturer in the segment for decades. The lineage is a roll-call of some of the most iconic continent-scarfers in history: 330 GTB. 365 GTB/4 Daytona. 550 Maranello. And the most recent addition to this noble bloodline, the 599 GTB Fiorano.

But the 599's day in the sun has come to a close, and Ferrari is faced with the Herculean task of topping it. But the storied Italian firm isn't going to top the Fiorano. No, it's going to top every one of its previous production models (at least with regard to engine output and lap time around its private test track, also called Fiorano) with its newest nose-motored, dozen-cylinder two-seater, the F12berlinetta.

TechArt Tailors New Duds for the New Porsche 911

TechArt Porsche 991 front 3/4 view

The arrival of a new generation of Porsche 911 is a momentous occasion, and the latest generation - the 991 - is arguably the most momentous since the arrival of the original in 1964. It's the fastest, most powerful and (to the dismay of more than a few purists) most civilized. For most people, that's all the incentive they need to buy one...

Which can present a problem, if you want a 991 that stands out from the herd. Mercifully, the aftermarket is burning the midnight oil to get upgrade parts on the market. Some are even ready to go, including the bits seen here from the pathological Porsche primpers at TechArt.

HAMANN TYCOON EVO M

The HAMANN Tycoon Evo M debuted last year at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show as a super duper hyped-up version of the BMW X6 M. The shocker was the fact that HAMANN managed to boost the engine output to 670hp allowing the 4WD vehicle to hit 62mph from a standstill in just 4.2 seconds on its way to a top speed of 186 mph. The heavily tuned Sports Activity Vehicle has retained much of its original form along with some new carbon bits, a fresh paint job and some far out guts for 2011.

For this year's Geneva Motor Show, HAMANN outfitted the X6 M with a new carbon fiber hood, roof rack, lower front spoiler, rear window spoiler, rear wing, rear diffuser and rear tail lights covers. In addition, the exterior gets shellacked in matte black paint.
