The Geneva Motor Show is one of the auto industry’s best-known rites of Spring. Every March, the motoring world converges on the lakeside Swiss metropolis to gawk at all the new models (vehicular and otherwise) on neutral ground. It’s absolutely one of the crown jewels of the international auto show calendar.

And because it’s such a prestigious show, the manufacturers tend to bring their best production and concept cars to the Geneva Palexpo. This means picking out the best of the best is a mighty daunting task, which is why we’ve decided to expand the field to 25. We’ve got a lot of ground to cover, so let’s hop to it.

Breitling Rolls out Bentley Continental GT V8 Inspired Watch

Breitling for Bentley GMT V8 with car

Rare is the automaker-branded non-automotive product that was developed with a great deal of involvement from said automaker. Most of the time, the car company waits for the trinketmaker's check to clear and, once that happens, it's onto reviewing the next licensed product for approval. No consulting on the size and placement of the logo on that toilet seat cover or shot glass set, or what the thread count of that blanket-with-sleeves is.

The working relationship between Bentley and Breitling, on the other hand, is much closer and hands-on. The British luxury car maker and the Swiss high-end watchmaker have been chummy for many moons, which is no surprise, given the no-doubt sizable overlap of their primary demographics. It should also be no surprise that Breitling is helping Bentley celebrate the launch of the new V8 version of the Continental GT and GTC with a trick new timepiece.

Top 10 Hottest Cars at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show title

The automotive world has made its annual convergence on Motown in the form of the 2012 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. And as has been the case with many recent major auto shows, the lineup of production and concept vehicle debuts is an ecclectic mix of technologically-advanced green machines and high horsepower (albeit increasingly responsible) speedmongers.

2011 Frankfurt Motor Show Top 20 Title

The German auto industry has long been one of the most (if not the most) respected on the planet. Much of that has to do with its reputation for precision engineering and attention to detail. Still more has to do with knowing that most new models get tested to their limits on the Autobahn and/or the Nürburgring. Bottom line: Deutschland takes this car building stuff seriously.

However, when it comes to showing off those new cars, the city of Frankfurt likes to throw a party every other September, and it also invites manufacturers from other nations to join in the four-wheeled revelry. (Naturally, things never get too crazy, what with Oktoberfest being mere weeks away.) This year’s guest list is one for the ages, but we were still able to pick out the 20 automotive attendees (10 concept models and 10 production models) we’d most like to chat up by the punchbowl.

Bentley Continental Flying Star by Touring front 3/4 view

Last December we enshrined the first ten cars of the Sub5Zero Fantasy Collection in our imaginary Garage Mahal. These are the rides we’d procure if we were completely free of such buzz-killing constraints as production status (or lack thereof), street legality in part or all of the U.S. and, most crucially of all, financial resources. Think of it as the fleet Jay Leno would envy.

Now, however, we have a challenge on our hands. Adding to the ten founding members might seem easy enough, but we don’t want to add just any cars to the garage. You see, cool cars of the world, it’s not enough to be expensive, exclusive, good looking or fast; you also need to have a certain “it” factor. Being at least semi-obscure also helps, something that’s rather difficult in the Information Age. But the eleventh inductee fits all of the aforementioned criteria and more…while actually being based on a really well-known model.
