It’s not every day (or year, for that matter) that an automotive icon reaches its 50th birthday. Ergo, Porsche has every right to make a big to do about the golden anniversary of the 911. And while orthodox Porschephiles will likely continue to moan about how the 911 has gotten fatter, softer and altogether more civilized with each generation until the end of time, it would behoove them to remember that Porsche has always kept driving fun as priority one.
And speaking of fun, the company put together this rather amusing short video that’s aimed at the increasingly-lucrative Chinese market. It features an example of each of the seven generations of 911, with each one’s flat-six blatting out a different note on the seven note solfège scale to perform “Happy Birthday to You.” Kind of drives yet another nail in the old “humorless Germans” stereotype, doesn’t it?
